NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES OF WATERBURY AMERICAN DREAM DPA PROGRAM
WATERBURY, CT – May 6, 2012 –The Neighborhood Services of Waterbury is currently offering a silent second mortgage designed to help qualified first-time borrowers who require down payment and closing cost assistance. Titled American Dream DPA, the product is available to borrowers in the Waterbury area, who must apply directly with Neighborhood Housing Services of Waterbury. Envoy Mortgage branches in the Waterbury area will work with borrowers who qualify for the program, assisting them in finding a mortgage that best suits their individual needs.
“The program is designed to help borrowers who qualify for a conventional FHA mortgage,” said Giovanni Crea, senior loan originator at Envoy’s Berlin, CT branch. “It is a way to help them out and get into a home.”
The program hopes to increase homeownership in the Waterbury area, especially among creditworthy borrowers who may not have the financial resources for a down payment or to pay closing costs. The amount of assistance is up to 6 percent of the home price, or $10,000, and the home is required to be owner-occupied.
“For sustainability, borrowers in the program are required to go through a homebuyer education program, which includes fundamentals of managing personal finances and maintaining a good credit score.”
