ENVOY MORTGAGE REACHES EMPLOYEES’ MILITARY FAMILY MEMBERS THROUGH
COMPANY-WIDE DONATION PROGRAM
Houston, TX – October 18, 2011 –Envoy Mortgage, a full-service mortgage banking firm recently completed a month-long, company-wide volunteer charitable program to gather donations for three employees’ family members who are actively serving in the military in Iraq and Kuwait. Two active-duty Army soldiers in Houston accepted the donations on behalf of the three soldiers in a special ceremony that took place at Envoy’s headquarters at the end of September.
John Wood, Vice President of Human Resources, said “we feel this is a necessary way to show our valuable employees that they are important to us and also that we are not only thinking about them, but also about their family members who are overseas serving their country. In implementing the initiative, I was sure that we would successfully fulfill the mission of the program.”
Two of the three individuals who received packages of most-requested items are:
· Lt. Colonel Richard Anderson, brother of Janet Mettey, a loan funder at Envoy, who is on his fifth tour of duty in Iraq. He has been serving in the military for 23 years and is stationed in Hawaii. His battalion deployed for Iraq in December 2010. He is the proud father of two girls: Paige, age 12, and Bridget, age 10. His twin brother also serves in the military.
“The boxes came at a great time,” Anderson said in a note sent via email to Mettey. “Please tell everyone that the soldiers really enjoyed the packages and thank all who participated. It was very thoughtful and much appreciated. Let them know that we do what we do for people like you and them.”
· Specialist Samuel Scott Dillard, son-in-law of Pat Byrd, an underwriter at Envoy. Scott is a member of the United States Army, 18th Airborne, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He is currently deployed to Kuwait working in logistical manpower support. Scott also teaches math and is an educational mentor to his fellow soldiers.
“I would thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the love and support for all U.S. troops over in Kuwait and Iraq,” Dillard said, in a note sent via email. “I loved the box; we all loved the snacks, coffee, the football, the socks and everything else in the huge box I received today. We are all doing okay and ready to come back home to the U.S. Thank you for all the support and love.”
John Ortega, Senior Vice President of Secondary Marketing, who is also an active member of the Army Reserves, said, “This program is a way to reach out to those who are tirelessly serving their country. Also, it allows our employees to contribute toward something meaningful—a cause that ultimately impacts those with whom they work on a daily basis.”
